Summer Ranger
Mid-December 2026 – Early February 2027 - Minimum 30 hours per week
We’re looking for friendly, confident and practical people to join our Ranger team over the busy summer period.
You’ll be part of an experienced team of Rangers responsible for helping keep the campground and wider Reserve safe, welcoming and enjoyable during our busiest time of year.
Working primarily in the evenings, you’ll maintain a visible presence around the Reserve, assist guests and visitors, respond to after-hours issues and call-outs, identify and report potential problems, and help ensure campground and Reserve rules are applied consistently, fairly and professionally.
The role also supports KRR’s after-hours emergency response arrangements, so you’ll need to be calm, practical and confident dealing with a range of situations. Full training and support will be provided, and you’ll work alongside other Rangers throughout the busy summer period.
Hours and availability:
The position is fixed-term from mid-December 2026 through to early February 2027, with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Shifts will generally start at around 4.00 pm and finish around 1.00 am, give or take depending on operational requirements.
You’ll need to be available to work weekends and public holidays, including throughout the busy Christmas and New Year period.
The evening hours mean you can still make the most of Kaiteretere and the wider Tasman region during the day.
About you:
We’re looking for someone who is:
Friendly, approachable and comfortable dealing with a wide range of people
Calm and level-headed when dealing with challenging situations
Reliable and able to work as part of a team
Practical, observant and willing to get involved
Comfortable working evenings, weekends and public holidays
Focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and visitors
Previous Ranger experience isn’t required – full training will be provided.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, which KRR will arrange.
If you enjoy working with people, can keep a cool head when things get busy, and like the idea of spending your summer in one of New Zealand’s best coastal locations, we’d love to hear from you.
