Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is looking for a practical, hardworking and reliable Grounds Person to join our Facilities & Environment team for our busy summer season.
This is a hands-on role helping keep the Reserve, campground and public areas looking great and operating smoothly during our busiest time of year. No two days are quite the same, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys being outdoors, is happy getting stuck in, and takes pride in doing a good job.
About the Role
Working as part of our Facilities & Environment team, you’ll help with the day-to-day care and presentation of the Reserve and support the wider team as required.
Your work will include:
- General grounds maintenance and upkeep
- Mowing, weed-eating and vegetation maintenance
- Gardening, planting, pruning and general landscaping
- Keeping campground and public areas clean, tidy and well presented
- Rubbish and recycling collection
- Moving materials, equipment and supplies around the Reserve
- Operating vehicles, trailers and grounds-maintenance equipment
- Assisting with minor maintenance and practical jobs
- Helping prepare areas for the busy summer period
- Responding to day-to-day operational jobs as they arise
- Working safely and following KRR's health and safety procedures
- Supporting the wider team during busy periods
About You
We’re looking for someone who is practical, dependable and comfortable working outdoors in all sorts of conditions.
Ideally, you will:
- Hold a current Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence – essential
- Be physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual work
- Have experience with grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping or similar practical work
- Be confident using common grounds-maintenance tools and equipment
- Have a good understanding of working safely around vehicles, machinery, staff and the public
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be reliable and able to manage your workload
- Take pride in maintaining a high standard of presentation
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to help wherever required
- Because this role covers our peak summer season, you must be available to work weekends and public holidays as rostered, including over the Christmas/New Year period.

About Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve
Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is located at the gateway to Abel Tasman National Park and manages approximately 250 hectares of reserve land.
Our operations include the Kaiteriteri campground and accommodation, Kaiteriteri Beach and surrounding public areas, the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park, Kākā Point Historic Reserve and extensive areas of native bush and recreational land.
Our team works together to provide an outstanding environment and experience for our visitors, community and staff while caring for this special place for future generations.
