The Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is located at the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park in the spectacular Tasman region and is a 50-minute drive from Nelson and 20 minutes from Motueka. Its vision is to be the best outdoor coastal recreation destination in New Zealand. The Reserve has 250 hectares of historic coastal land including the famous Kaiteriteri Beach, Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park and Kaka Pa Historic Reserve. Although the Reserve has a responsibility to the Crown to manage this land, it is 100% funded through its commercial operations including:

  • Recreation & Concessions 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly.
  • Serve customers promptly in a friendly manner.
  • Proficient at mixing and serving drinks.
  • Duties and Responsibilities  Comply with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and amendments, Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2003.
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the premises liquor and gaming license/s.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of their obligations pursuant to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the company’s liquor license is not jeopardized—this includes patron conduct and intoxication.
  • Assume responsibility for the liquor and barista inventory control and purchasing, ensuring no “stock outs” occur, integrity is maintained in the stock control system, weekly assessments are completed, variances are reported, and remedial action is taken.
  • Ensure a cost-effective bar roster is displayed weekly in advance
  • Ensure staff are inducted and trained adequately to deliver a 4.5* level of service.
  • Ensure staff can confidently describe beer, cocktail & wine list and can make recommendations when asked to do so.
  • Collaborate with Customer Experience Team Leader to ensure restaurant staff can confidently describe wine list and menu items and can make recommendations when asked to do so.
  • Ensure staff are aware of specials, new wine lists and menu items and out of stock beverages.
  • Ensure the bar area and behind the bar are always kept clean and tidy and in accordance to specified standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition.
  • Update daily records and shift summary.
  • Prepare and introduce an on-going calendar of cost-effective promotional initiatives in consultation with the Commercial Manager and Head Chef.
  • Participate in budget preparation as required by Commercial Manager and Head Chef.
  • Remain up to date with local and international beverage trends.
  • Ensure all funds and proceeds belonging to the business are accounted for, secured, and locked in the safe before leaving the premises.
  • Complete cash-up, noting any differences between actual and till total
  • Ensure the security alarm is activated and functioning before leaving the premises.
  • Maintain and complete the premises incident record book.
  • Participate as a constructive member of the management team with the view to maximizing business sales volumes and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with kitchen and restaurant staff to ensure the overall business operates smoothly.
  • Look for opportunities to improve procedures and make improvements where appropriate.
  • Complete weekly wage information
  • Complete open and close routines
  • Promote and encourage a high level of morale and team cooperation.
  • Work closely with other departments ensuring communication flows effectively.
  • Answer phones quickly and ensure staff do the same.
  • Participate as a constructive member of the management team with the view to maximising business sales volumes and profitability.
  • Manage staff in a fair and equitable manner, take appropriate disciplinary action when required and comply with best practice and establishment regulations.
  • Manage recruitment process to policy.
  • Complete other general and clerical duties as the manager or nominee may require to assist with the smooth operation of the business.

  • Level 5 National Diploma in Hospitality

      (Operational Management)
